NZ Day 2 – Seeing Auckland

I’m not sure if I was just so exhausted my body was malleable to the time zone changes or if I just got lucky, but I have no jet lag and hit the ground running today! Decided to wait a few days before attempting to drive on the wrong, I mean other, side of the road. So we decided to take the public bus into Auckland Centre and take the Hop On Hop Off Bus. They are a great way to get an overview of the city and top tourist sites. I love the double decker open top ones the best!

Started on the Red Route which included the Auckland Harbor, Sky Tower (tall jart looking building), and a couple of museums. Ended the day at Newmarket with a yummy roast sandwich and shopping for all the toiletries that I didn’t bring on the plane because it is easier and more fun to buy them upon arrival.

I also purchased a button up shirt that has 50+ SPF and long sleeves. It’s yellow (in my defense they only had yellow, but anyone who know me knows I would have purchased the yellow one no matter what) and you can expect to see a lot of it . The sun here is fierce! Hilariously I consciously decided to leave a white one (didn’t have yellow and I had plans to dye it but never got around to it) at home. Lucky me it also counts as a souvenir because it was made in NZ. I’m sure it will appear in a lot of photos.

The weather here is glorious! Sunny days in the mid 70’s. Light Breeze. The air smells amazing. It smells sweet and salty at the same time. Like flowers blooming in an ocean breeze. It makes for great days to walk and sight see!
